AppeLab Arabic Layer

Privacy policy

Arabic Layer corrects Arabic and mixed-language text direction locally in your browser. It does not transmit or retain page content.

Privacy by local processing

This policy applies specifically to the AppeLab Arabic Layer Chrome and Chromium extension. Last updated 19 August 2026.

Information processed

Arabic Layer may inspect visible page text to determine and correct its reading direction. Depending on where the extension is used, this can include website content, text entered into editable fields, and personal communications displayed in supported chat or email interfaces.

Local processing only

All text-direction processing occurs locally on the user's device. Page content, editable-field content, prompts, messages, and browsing history are not transmitted to AppeLab or to third parties.

Purpose and use

Content is processed only to provide the extension's single purpose: correcting the display direction of Arabic and mixed Arabic-English text. It is not used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or any unrelated purpose.

Storage and retention

Local browser storage is used only to remember the selected Auto, RTL, or LTR mode and whether the extension is enabled for each automatically supported website. Page text and communications are not written to extension storage or otherwise persisted by the extension.

Sharing and sale

AppeLab does not sell, transfer, disclose, or make locally processed page content available to third parties or for human review. The extension has no advertising or data-broker integrations.

Analytics and external services

The extension does not use analytics, telemetry, advertising trackers, AI APIs, remote JavaScript, or user accounts. It does not make network requests to AppeLab or another service.

Permissions

The extension requests storage, activeTab, and scripting. It does not request access to all URLs. Automatic access is limited to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Gmail, and LinkedIn. Temporary access to another page occurs only when the user invokes Fix this page now.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

AppeLab's use of information handled by Arabic Layer is limited to providing or improving its single user-facing purpose and complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Policy changes

If the extension's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the revised practices are introduced. Material changes will also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store disclosures.
